Sorry it's taken so long to post here. About 10 hours after we got home, I was leaving for CA for the week and was really busy all week out there. We had a wonderful time meeting all the WV crew and all the other "new" folks as well. Beautiful place to visit, hope we can get back up there again sometime. Snow Sunday morning was a pretty surprise. Was wondering if we were gonna have ice troubles on the road, but the temp in the mirror said it never went below 34. As I told GBT Saturday night, we were sorry we missed the caverns, but we ended up north in Silver Lake and around the windmills and realized too late that we'd never make it down there in time so we hooked up for a late lunch with Moddess PokerGuy and the kids

While I can say there are 881 pictures on my camera, most of those are just me going crazy with the 2.5 fps that the D40 will do (poor man's movie sequences). Most of the pics are of the falls, twister, string game, etc. that have already been posted. I do have a few decent shots of the windmills though and more detailed shots of the tiny church in Silver Lake. Will post a link to pics sometime this weekend after I can get them sized and uploaded.

What great food! Glad everyone enjoyed the NC BBQ  as well! Thank you to everyone who helped out with this...was a great time with AV family and friends...hope to see you all head south one of these days  (y)

Just South of Blackwater Falls, we did see a couple Avs as we were passing by in the morning. One Av was black, but I couldn't tell at a quick glance who it was. I think the other was Modess.

SS, Just so you know, that would have been us  Didn't even know it was you (even when you honked - BTW, Ginny says you need to get train horns for the motor home  ;D ) until we went past and saw the AV behind it. Think we ended up leaving about 20 minutes after most everyone else so that's why you saw us. Moddess had to come back to the cabin to pick up some stuff so that's probably why you saw them. It was nice to finally meet you and Sue. Maybe one year the campgrounds will be open for it  Let us know if you ever get down our way. As Jstbad and Earnie can tell you our yard is camper/motor home friendly  (y)

Well, I was being nice with the horns, and feathering the air valve so I didn't give you a full blast.  >:D It has dual chrome Hadley air trumpets on the roof, and they can give a healthy deep blast. But you're right, they're still not like the train horns, and don't have quite the volume, and they don't have the shrill tremolo effect.

Hmmm... I do have plenty of room in the front generator compartment...

It was good meeting you, as well. And I'll keep the offer in mind. We normally stick to shorter trips, ones we can drive in one day, so that means it may be a while before we get that far South. The cost of diesel just keeps going up so fast, faster than gas at times, so that probably won't change anytime soon. (This trip alone cost us over $500 in diesel! I don't complain anymore about putting $80 or $90 in the Av's tank...) But Sue loves NC, and I'm sure she would be happy to make the trip someday.

This year, we have two long trips planned. This GTG was one of them, and the Nationals in Pigeon Forge will be the other. That will put us relatively close to you, but she's already pushing the amount of time off she can get from work, so I don't think that there's any way we can extend the trip and make some side excursions this time.  :6:

OK better late than never. Schedule has been kind of crazy the last couple weeks. I finally got some of the pics off of the camera and have uploaded at least the more unique ones to webshots so everyone can view them. Most of these are of the little church and the windmills.

I don't know if anyone is watching this thread anymore, but if so I just want to say that me and Dawn had a great time. The place was beautiful, the weather was almost perfect (maybe the almost could be dropped), and the people were fantastic. It was only our second CAFCNA GTG and if they keep getting better like this I only wish I could make more of them. This was, as many of you know, a complete surprise to Dawn and she is looking forward to the next GTG. I work for trucking and my schedule is brutal, but we will plug in when and where we can. I am looking at a few others right now like Pigeon Forge and Lake George and hope to make another soon. We have a cruise already in the plans later this year and time and money only stretch so far. GBT, you did a phenomenal job keeping this event on track. Hope to see you all again and meet more good people like all of you at future events.

Nice pics Skyview!  (y) Thanks for posting some pictures of the windmills.

Stagecoach - nice meeting you and Dawn also. Sorry I didn't make it by last Saturday while I was at the Parelli thing in Harrisburg. That trip turned out to be a day trip.

Looking forward to the Nationals.......

Keep us in mind whenever you are in the central PA area. Stay in touch. As we mentioned to you guys we get into Virginia and North Carolina because of family in both. I'll get in touch next time we are passing through your area and we can get together for some eats and drinks.

Skyview, thanks for the posting those great pictures! (y) We didn't even know about that little church.... and we missed getting pictures of the wind mills because of the fog.

Stagecoach, we enjoyed meeting you and Dawn too. I'm so glad she enjoyed her surprise weekend. Hope to see you at Nationals in TN.

Mrs WVAV

This thread may never end. And I mean that in a good way.  (y)

Good to hear from you guys WVAV. We enjoyed the Saturday afternoon visit @ the cabin.  :yourock:
We've got a family camping trip scheduled for the July 4th weekend and then we are looking at a cruise with a group of coworkers later in the year. Dawn and I would really like to work at least a couple days off to make the Nationals.
