Should I have any concern going on a long trip when oil change is due?

Hi,

We're about to go on a 1200 mile round trip. My truck has been great, properly maintained,..... I just noticed that the oil life indicator is at 18%. I normally change the oil/filter around 20% or so, dependent on my free time. My gut feeling is that it's nothing to worry about, it'll probably be about 10% when we return from the trip, and I'll do the oil change then. What's your opinion?
Thanks,

I'm sure you'll be fine and nothing to worry about unless you're pulling a heavy load uphill both ways in a dusty environment. I'd be more concerned if you haven't deleted AFM and DOD.

Thanks, no towing/hauling, maybe some uphill driving, no offroading in dusty environment.

I would - I mean close enough and you will also get all other fluids checked etc for the long road trip.

Or it can be asked this way?

Why not change it before long trip?

Full synthetic? You should be fine..

But... at least check the level before the long trip. If I don't add any oil after 5,000 miles, only 4 quarts drain out. I wouldn't want to start a trip with only 4 quarts of oil.

Agree with your sentiment.
ONLY reason it's an issue is because of time constraint, the trip is kinda last minute. Leaving Thu morning, been working late all week. I might have some time Wed night, but might need that time packing.
Thanks,

Yes, Mobil 1 5W-30 all through my ownership.
Thanks,
